Authorities conduct a search at rural business

Authorities conducted a search and made arrests at a home and business in rural Cowley County Monday, undersheriff Bill Mueller confirmed.

The search was related to a drug and stolen proper investigation, the undersheriff said. Sheriff’s deputies, drug task force officers, the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kay County Sheriff’s Dept. were involved in the investigation.

The property is on Cowley 1 just north of 192nd Road and includes a home and K&A Auto. A name stone at the home indicates the property belongs to the Andes family.

Both Mueller and sheriff Don Read were out of the office an unavailable for additional comment.

A check of jail records, though, shows that Donald Keith Andes, 48, Winfield, was booked into the jail Monday. He is still in custody on a $15,000 bond, according to a jail spokesperson.

The charges he was booked in on include drug and stolen property related counts, the spokesperson said.
