Pink Zone games set for Tuesday in Winfield

Tuesday is the second annual Pink Zone-Cowley County Clash game between basketball teams from Winfield and Ark City. Both boys and girls games will be played at Winfield High School.

Nearly 1,000 t-shirts and 300 pairs of sweat pants have been sold by student councils in both towns. The goal is to raise $7,500 for the Kay Yow Cancer Research Fund. At halftime of the game, survivors and those surviving breast cancer and other forms of cancer will be honored.

The Key Club will be selling pork burgers from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Bracelets with this year’s Pink Zone theme Playing Fair to Make Others Aware, are also being sold.

To encourage attendance at the varsity girls’ game, the student council will be giving away $5 to $10 Sonic Cards during the girls’ halftime. As fans arrive at the girls’ game, they will be given a pink ticket for the drawing just for being there and another ticket if they are wearing a new pink zone shirt or sweat pants.

Only those who arrive before the girls’ halftime will be eligible for the drawing.
