Johnson bound for trial in Whiteman death

A jury trial is currently set for Dec. 3 for a Wichita man accused of fatally shooting his wife – a former Cowley County resident.

Reginald Johnson, 38, was bound over for trial following a preliminary hearing earlier this month. He is accused of the first degree premeditated murder of Amy Whiteman at their Wichita home Aug. 20.

She graduated from Central Burden High School in 1989 and was a former Cambridge resident.

Authorities said Johnson walked into a police substation Aug. 20 and told officers he hurt his wife. Police found Whiteman’s body at the home. She had been shot multiple times.
