Burglary, theft is crime of the month for Feb.

A December 2007 burglary and the theft of three four-wheelers and numerous tools from 182nd Road near Winfield has been designated the crime of the month for February by the board of directors of Cowley County Crime Stoppers.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the people responsible for the crimes. The loss and criminal damage to property is estimated at $17,676.

The crimes occurred between 6 p.m. Dec. 8 and 8:30 a.m. December 9 when someone entered several buildings owned by Roger Tredway. A screen was taken off a window on one shed and the glass broken so the thief or thieves could crawl through the window. Numerous power tools were taken from this building.

A second shed was entered after a padlock was removed from a back door. The four-wheelers taken belonged to Roger Tredway, Arkansas City, Richard Tredway and H. B. Caufield, both of Winfield.

Two other buildings were broken into but nothing appeared to be taken from those buildings. There was physical evidence retrieved from the burglary, according to Cowley Count Undersheriff Don Reid. Serial numbers on some of the items stolen are available.
