Four incidents make up Sept. crime of month

The Cowley County Crime Stoppers board has accepted four incidents as crime of the month due to a lot of recent criminal activity and requests from the three major law enforcement agencies in the county.

Between 5 p.m. on Aug. 20 and 7 a.m. Aug. 21 several Ark City businesses were burglarized. They included Reedy Ford, Zeller Motor Co., Abbey Eye Care, Dobson Insurance, Hunter/Jackson Insurance and Skyline Mobile Homes.

In most cases, entry was made by breaking windows.Stolen cash and property damage totaled over $7,000.

A fire that destroyed a house at 811 Mansfield occurred in Winfield Aug. 31. The investigation revealed the fire was arson.
