AC incident leads to search for man with gun

Police in Arkansas City are looking for a man they said threatened his estranged wife Sunday and stole a handgun from her home before fleeing.

Francisco Xavier Galindo, 41, should be considered armed and dangerous, Ark City Chief Sean Wallace said in a written statement. Anyone who sees him is asked not to approach him and contact police.

Around 8 p.m., officers arrived at a home in the 300 block of Meek after receiving a call from a woman who was in her car and reportedly fleeing from a man with a gun. The woman was eventually located at Westar Energy on north Summit and was OK.

She told police that Galindo had been drinking and was carrying a six pack with him when he showed up. He was trying to convince her to reconcile, according to the report, and she was not interested.

Galindo is said to have made advances toward the woman and restrained her physically as she tried to call police. The suspect then managed to gain possession of a 9-millimeter weapon that belonged to the woman.

The woman was able to get into her car and began backing out of her driveway. Galindo followed, police said, and was banging the gun against the woman’s car and said that he was "going to kill someone."

The incident led to an application for a search warrant signed by Ark City Judge Jim Pringle. A regional SWAT team helped to serve the warrant at a home in the 900 block of North D, where Galindo is believed to have lived with his mother.

The suspect, however, was not at home and could not be located.
