A passer-by grabbed a water hose and snuffed a porch fire burning at 1016 Ann Thursday evening, according to a report from the Winfield Fire Department.
Around 6:30 p.m., firefighters headed to that address after receiving a report of a fire on the home’s porch. The fire was out when emergency personnel arrived.
Fire crews found no signs that fire had made it into the actual home and spent some time at the residence helping to clear out some smoke. William Neil and Mary Neil are owners of the property, according to county records.
