An Ark City man was caught on video as he forged checks from an account of a person who was in the hospital, police chief Sean Wallace said.
Richard Ladd Jr. was arrested Saturday and faces five forgery and five felony theft charges. He is accused of forging about 12 checks in the area.
The investigation began Nov. 24 when Union State Bank called police in regard to a customer in the hospital who was concerned about checks coming through the bank. Police determined someone had been writing and cashing check on the account.
After interviewing the victim they developed a suspect. Using video ? and with verification from store personnel ? Ladd was identified at the suspect.
