Trailer with stolen items turns up near Winf.

Cowley County Sheriff’s investigators are looking for the owner of a stolen trailer than turned up just north of Winfield Thursday morning.

Deputies were called to the 9400 block of 154th Rd. when a concerned citizen saw a trailer in the area that hadn’t been there the previous day, according to undersheriff Bill Mueller. A number of miscellaneous tools and other items, later determined to be stolen, had been loaded onto the trailer.

The sheriff’s department worked with Winfield police to determine that the property on the trailer had been taken from homes in Winfield overnight.

Authorities have identified the rightful owner of each stolen item but haven’t found the owner of the trailer, Mueller said.

The trailer is described as a 16-foot, blue, tandem axle, flatbed trailer. Mueller said the trailer appeared to be one used by landscapers or someone who transported mowers. The trailer does have some side rails and angled iron hooks from which to hang rakes or lawn equipment.

It appears it was originally black and later painted blue. Anyone with information about who the trailer belongs to should call the sheriff’s department at 221-5555.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified thus far.
